Following a gap in racing since Nottingham Autumn Head in October, our senior squads got to test their speed on the Tideway for this years Quintin Head.
Racing in Op Int 1 8+, our first Mens Eight rowed well, leading division 2 of the event to place 1st in Op Int 1 8+ and 18th overall in the provisional results. Unfortunately, due to a technicality in the warm up rules that none of the crew were aware of, they were then awarded a 10 second that ultimately dropped them into 3rd place in Op Int 1 8+ - a very useful lesson ahead of the rest of the Tideway events. Since the event, we have been told that the two crews that ultimately placed above us after the penalty, and therefore our open 8+ has been re-awarded the win.
Op Int 1 8+: Phoebe Cook, Ollie Hanks, James Crossley, James Walker, James Bennett, James Cardon, Tim Maine, Marcus Shreeve, Toby Reid
Racing in Senior Womens Eights, the women's eight also recorded a good row, coming 8th in their category and finishing just a couple of seconds behind local rivals Nottingham RC - but with plenty of gains to be made before they face eachother again.
W Senior 8+: Jack Woodward, Jade Smith, Martha Nutkins, Lucy Stokes, Lizzy Wilkes, Guste Balcuinate, Chloe Garnham, Emily Carr, Jaz Smith
Both crews now look to Head of the Trent in late February and then their respective Tideway Heads where high finishes in the pennants (Small Club for WEHORR and the Jackson Trophy for HORR) are firmly in their sights.
