WHATS NEW AT UODRC

The University of Derby Rowing Club has had a great start to the year with a strong recruitment drive and successful series of ‘Give it a Go’ days. These were sessions hosted at both Derby Rowing Club and the Union of Students Freshers Village. The sessions provided people the opportunity to come along and give rowing a go by getting involved in an ergo session.

Those who came down to the club also managed to view the amazing facilities on offer, and the beautiful setting of Darley Park.

Following on from these sessions we’ve seen an increase in our membership by 11. Our Freshers are now all actively getting involved with their land programs made up of erg sessions as well as circuit training. They’ve all said how much they are enjoying training at Derby Rowing Club and look forward to getting out on the water as soon as it’s safe to do
so!

Our Senior Squad has had a successful and safe return to rowing. They’ve returned to Derby and have been getting out on the water regularly. We have also introduced our Senior Ergo Sessions to support their training for the season ahead. The squad is looking ahead to a successful season of racing with some members hoping to make it to Nottingham at the end of the month for the British Rowing Sprint Festival, whilst the rest of the squad is busy
building their engines ready for BUCS Head!

Many thanks,
Elliot McFarlane
UoDRC President
